Figure & Fitness Competition Suits Guide
Figure and Fitness competitors require a different approach to suit design than Bikini athletes. As physiques become more developed, greater consideration must be given to overall balance, proportions and presentation on stage.
While federation rules vary, Figure and Fitness suits are typically designed to highlight increased muscularity, the waist taper and a stronger overall silhouette, whilst still maintaining an elegant and feminine appearance.
Figure & Fitness Suit Design
Unlike Bikini Fitness suits, where the straps typically tie around the neck and back, Figure and Fitness suits often feature straps that cross over the back and attach directly to the bikini bottoms. This creates a more connected, streamlined look and helps showcase back development, shoulder width and overall symmetry.
The crossover design can also provide additional security and comfort on stage, helping the suit stay securely in place during posing and performance routines.
Crystal Designs
Figure and Fitness suits often incorporate more intricate crystal work than those typically seen in Bikini classes.
More elaborate designs are common, helping to create a bold and striking look under stage lighting.
That said, successful suit design is rarely about 'the most intricate design'. The most effective designs are those that work in harmony with the athlete's physique, drawing attention to shape, symmetry and proportions rather than overwhelming them.
A well-designed suit should enhance the physique, not compete with it.
The Importance of Fit
As an athlete progresses through Figure or Fitness, suit fit becomes increasingly important.
The placement of straps, cup shape, torso length, coverage and crystal layout can all influence how proportions are presented on stage. What works for one athlete may not work for another.
At Dream Bikini, every suit is handmade to order and tailored to the individual athlete. We understand that Figure and Fitness competitors require a different approach to Bikini athletes, and we take the time to consider category requirements, federation regulations and physique structure when creating each suit.
Our founder has nearly a decade of competitive bodybuilding experience and understands first-hand how important it is that a competition suit not only looks beautiful, but enhances the athlete wearing it.
Because on show day, every detail matters.
